Geoscape3d uses various tools to "paint" the terrain onto the current heightmap. To activate a tool, select it from the toolbar or the menu and then move the mouse over the heightmap.
In the 2d view when you press the left or right mouse button the tool will activate and effect the pixels under the brush.
In the 3d view when you press the tool mouse button the tool will activate and effect the pixels under the tool marker. This button is mapped either to the left or right mouse button based on the current mouse settings.
The brush's extent is visible as a circle around the cursor. Holding the mouse button down and moving the mouse continues the tools effect, but the action depends on the mode the tools are in. In continuous mode the tool will alter all the pixels the mouse passes over, otherwise it will periodically update the pixels, so moving the mouse faster will spread out the effect. This setting can be altered in the Edit|Settings menu. Holding the mouse button down and not moving the mouse will cause the tool to continuously effect the same pixels.
The tools mostly use the concept of a current brush. This is a specified circle of pixels that, when the tool is activated, the tool effect is used. This is displayed on the 2d heightmap in the terrain editor window and the 3d view. All tools have a different set of options. For more information:
The tools are detailed in their own sections, please click on the appropriate tool below.
These are the tools that edit the properties of inserted objects interactively.
When running any of the object tools, inserts can be selected at any time by clicking on them. If the mouse button is clicked and held and then the mouse is dragged, this will create a rectangle that will select all objects within this area. To select multiple inserts, hold the control key down while selecting and this will add to the current selection. To unselect one insert from the current selection, hold down the control key and click on the object you wish to remove from current object selection. Alternatively, the user may right-click on object in the project tree in the main editor and choose toggle selection.
